Broward College

Broward College is a state college in Florida offering associate and bachelor’s degrees that serve over 67,000 students annually. Broward College emphasizes affordability and flexibility.

Broward College adapted its Computer System Specialist Associate of Science Degree program to a completely online, accelerated, competency-based mode of delivery beginning in August 2013. The program includes 21 courses, leading to one of two certificates (Information Technology Support Specialist and Information Technology Analysis Certificate) and ultimately an Associate of Science degree. The program’s target audience is based on the TAACCCT federal grant requirements and focuses on veterans, WorkForce One referrals (displaced or unemployed), college-ready adults, and certain high achieving college-ready high school students. The program is currently fully online but Broward College plans to develop an on-campus, face-to-face competency-based program within its Computer Science and Engineering Department.
