Primary Responsibilities

Lipscomb University seeks an energetic, innovative and collaborative Executive Director who will be responsible for advancing and creating strategies for online learners at Lipscomb University, to include the significant scaling of online undergraduate and graduate programs and the development of university-wide online credentialing to help enhance career readiness and promote advancement potential for working professionals. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Strategy and will require experience with digital learning methodologies, technology, recruiting strategies and operations effectiveness with a strong focus on the overall learner experience in online programs. The position will oversee all aspects of Lipscomb Online, including the instructional design staff, registrar for the online unit, enrollment and recruiting staff, faculty and operations staff, curriculum development and delivery, student experience and community partnerships. The position will ensure that Lipscomb Online infuses a Christian approach in both the curriculum and student advising model that is appropriate for adults enrolled in the program and that is supportive of the mission and vision of Lipscomb University. Lipscomb University’s leadership and board have a strong institutional commitment to Lipscomb Online and to the excellence and quality the online team has already created that will take the university into the future.

Lipscomb Online expands student access and ensures opportunities for students to complete their college degrees in a Christian online program. Lipscomb Online collaborates with faculty and staff across the community to create innovative online academic pathways that serve a diverse student population, including adult learners, part-time, military and first-generation students. Academic products offered include fully online undergraduate and graduate degrees, graduate certificates and micro-credentials, and professional development.

Required Qualifications

The following are essential duties, responsibilities, and desired characteristics of the person hired as Executive Director:

-Master’s Degree;
-Leadership profile with 10+ years of experience;
-Deep knowledge of current technologies that support online learning;
-Direct experience managing online programs to scale;
-Skills in working at the intersection of labor market needs and university capabilities;
-Ability to recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate staff, including learning designers, technologists, media specialists, faculty and support staff;
-Financial and enrollment forecasting experience;
-Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and demonstrated success managing complex projects; and
-Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

-Digital and online marketing experience; and
-Vendor management and procurement experience.

Description of Tasks Performed

The Executive Director is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within the university, including academic units, deans and faculty across the institution, enrollment management, academic administration, professional and continuing education, information technology services and supporting functional areas, such as marketing and accounting. This position will design and build innovative programs and products, in partnership with the academic units,faculty and various employers.
The Executive Director will develop, lead, and manage office goals and objectives. Working with University Marketing, this position will facilitate a single Lipscomb Online brand in the market which includes the curriculum of undergraduate, graduate and programs within professional education. In addition, this position will be responsible for the development and execution of quality and performance metrics for online programming.

The Executive Director will be able to evaluate and communicate the technology needs and requirements to support online programming, develop and execute models for designing quality online programming, and work with University Marketing to develop a plan for marketing Lipscomb Online’s programs.
